Female: And I would like to introduce Renoir with Vive his owner. Thank you Vive, lovely and Renoir is a Bedington terrier and he’s in a group of coated dogs that are non-moulting and this group includes this poodle obviously, the Bedlington. The characteristics of this lovely wholly coat and actually, the Bedlington is peculiar that it does have some guard hairs on the other’s lovely blue color. With this kind of coat, we want to remove the dead hair because it does not mount out naturally like a double-coated blade, which has the hard top coat and the soft undercoat. This has all one coat and certain hairs die if they're not removed by brushing and combing and then this hairs twist and coarse, felting and matting. And on this type of coat ones they get matted it is very difficult and very painful job to get out for the dog.
If I show your basic equipment to groom out a pet base on Bedlington poodle I like to use this, this soft slicker brushes as again we start at the bottom working in layers. And inch at a time, I have my hand to give me a guide line where my lines is starting working up in the layers from the bottom of the hair working up towards the skin. And then it was very beautifully groomed out, wonderful. Ones he’s been brushed out, it’s very important to comb this coats through the large side of this comb will actually break the coat apart for you after the grooming and a fine side will actually remove any dead undercoat.
So just by brushing alone is not enough they must get that comb and again in layers work your way up to the top of the leg not forgetting the inside of the leg. So the combing is much easier. So this coat with so snatches where the notch maybe and you can see that we have got some dead undercoat there. Rubbers even wise is clippered out for show and this is something you could attempt at home. I would advice reading your breed standard. Get a picture of a top show dog, study the picture in your standard, and then put this on your dog. And ideally if you can get some training from a breeder.
