Hey guys its Vince DelMonte from YourSixpackQuest.com and VinceDelMonteFitness.com.
I got a video coaching lesson for you today. I want to talk about building muscle and burning fat. I think one of the problems is that a lot of people do not know what they are trying to do when they go to the gym. If you go to the gym and you ask somebody what is your goal? They will typically tell you, building muscle and burning fat. And to be honest, unless you got tremendous genetics or you are using steroids, it is hard to do both of those at the same time. You are going to be far more successful if you pick one goal for all of your efforts towards it. So if you are a skinny guy, and you know you are going to look better with an extra 20, 30 pounds of muscle, you need to put all of your energy from dieting, from meal planning to supplements, to the way your weight training programs designed, to your cardio kind of program in to building muscle. Once you have built the muscle then maybe I might take you three or four months six or nine months for somebody else, then you are going to put all your efforts in the burning fat, and when you burn the fat off then you are going to see the muscle that you actually built and you are going to reveal a brand new you. Literally you are going to be a new man or a new woman. So focus on picking one goal, all your efforts into one for three to four months and all your efforts in to the other. Do not try and do both at the same time and that is probably one of the best things you can do to make your life easier.
Now that you know that the building muscle and burning fat should be two separate goals, done in different phase without trying to compete with each other. You are probably asking well what is the difference? Typically, what I teach you on my muscle building program and my fat loss programs, the weight training is going to be pretty, pretty similar not identical but pretty similar because that weight training is designed and send that signal to the brain and keep your muscle tissue. The two things that will change are your cardio plan and your diet plan, so obviously if you are focusing on losing fat, your calories are going to look completely different. You are going to be in a caloric deficit. You are going to take in less than you are expanding, that is the key requirement. That is obvious right?
The second thing is the amount of cardio you are doing, obviously if you are trying to lose fat, you should be doing more cardio than if you are trying to build muscle. And if you are trying to build a muscle you want to keep your cardio at the minimum or else you can eat up the harden calories your body needs to actually repair and build those muscles, because your muscles are growing calories right?
So hope that makes sense, I know there is a lots of missing details there and if you need the complete system, step by step, how many reps, how many sets, how many calories which stays, which amounts, all those little details, check out YourSixPackQuest.com. It is all there.
