How to Build a Bathroom Wainscoting

Now redoing a bathroom can cost thousands, but using wainscoting, chair rail and a new baseboard, transforms a plain room into a room that has great detail. All of these for $100 and in less than half a day. Check this out.

Now when it comes to wainscoting, we chose the standard beadboard, because it has a colonial trim, it's going to tie in very nicely. We're also going to incorporate brand new baseboard and chair rail. Now the cool thing about this baseboard, is it has a rebate in it. Now the rebate is there, so that the wainscoting will sit down and house within it giving it a seamless finish.

Now the first thing we have to do is remove the tile baseboard and then we are come back along here just pry them out. Alright, now all the tile is out of the way. I'm going to start installing the baseboard. Now the key to installing this wainscoting is making sure the first board in is nice and plump. Everyone after that just falls into place.

So the boards are tongue and groove. They fit together very nicely and it all is a very process. Not all wainscoting steps together like that. For a larger job, you can buy beadboard in 4 x 8 shape and match it to any baseboard and chair rail that fits your design.

Now we are coming around the corner literally and I have half the room done, it's been two hours and I am on the final stage.

We're using 32 inch wainscoting, just to keep things in perspective, it's roughly one-third, one-third, one-third, that's the way to go.

So I'm going to put the chair rail on. Alrighty, that's a beauty. Now that chair rail that really catches the top of our wainscoting perfectly. And the reason I chose that one is because the door molding is very similar. Now I couldn't get the same stuff, but I got something in the same family that makes all the difference.

Now traditionally wainscoting used to be roller tend by stain or polyurethane Now, most of the times it's white because of the process in the manufacturing. In this case we're just going to stay with a nice standard white, because it matches in with the door. This wall really comes to life, I like it, it's crisp.

Now before, this room was lacking detail, now we enhanced it with architectural elements. They really look beautiful, in a bathroom, very classic in style and great on value.
