Okay. So, this stuff here is called corn gluten. I got a sample for one of the packages, all right. And this is a 9-0-0 high nitrogen fertilizer. It’s a pelletized form so it will break down.
The key to controlling the weeds is this high protein. The high protein is what stops the weeds from growing. And we’re going to be doing two things today. One is I’m going to show you how to put it down on the ground. And the other one I’m going to show you is how to make a spray from it because you can make a spray from this and spray on a regular basis which would do the same thing, okay. So, I’m going to go ahead and take and start with this. And I’ll show you basically what you have to do. Are we ready?
So, you want to sprinkle it lightly like that, roughly like that, all over your lawn. This is about the right kind of concentration. See, that’s exactly what you want. Just a little bit. You don’t want it be piled up, you don’t want very thick, you want just a little bit. You apply it on a regular basis and I’ll do it again for you.
Now, what I did to this corn gluten, what I did is I add a rock dust to it. Mix it in with rock dust, a little bit of rock dust, remixing it, go even further. It’ll do roughly this size right here which is about 30 x 30 feet. Okay. So, I’m going to go ahead and apply it now. Are we ready? Okay so, you want to do it like feeding chickens. You want to sprinkle it lightly, evenly over the whole area. It also makes a great organic fertilizer so it will feed the plants at the same time it will control the weeds from coming up. So, just put it down like this, lightly over the area.
Here’s another tip about—as you can do with this, you see these citrus, you see the fruit? It’s also a good fertilizer so we put it right on the base of the plant, it doesn’t hurt the plant at all.
