Special occasions like Halloween are a lot of fun because you get to do some of those once of year sort of things. Like carved jack-o'-lantern but if you’ve ever occurred one of the conventional way you know that they’d only last for a few days. There is a way to create a fest of jack-o'-lantern without completely carving the pumpkin.
This approach starts with choosing a pumpkin with a strong stem. You see about laying the pumpkin on its side and letting the stem service its nose. You can get an interesting look.
This winter squash such as pumpkins we’ll actually last longer if the stem is intact. So when you purchased one, make sure it has its stem. Once you’ve established the nose, draw all the features on its face and then cut them out only about an quarter an inch deep. A small paring knife is ideal then just remove the dark orange skin of the rind.
The face of jack-o'-lantern could be further accented by using dried beans. I’m using black-eyed peas for eyes and few navy beans for teeth just use your imagination.
Now just top off this for a neat old guy with the pepper reef closer to the big night Halloween. I can cut completely into the cavity of the pumpkin, cut a place in the back to insert a candle for some dramatic illumination.
And if you use this sweet little pie pumpkins as jack-o'-lantern cook them immediately after Halloween for pumpkin pie for the next holiday Thanksgiving. From the garden, I’m Allen Smith.
