Skipper, just stop the boat. We're right on the far end of the North Island. I got a double rig here. I drop the right, with 352 bucktails, half ounce mussels. We're going to drop it straight down, and this is pretty simple fishing, all we're going to do is drop it all the way down the bottom, where there is sculpin, small rock fish. We just want to get a bunch of fish for these guys, so they can enjoy and cook them up at home.
So fishing light gear, got 20 pound test line, and just let it go all the way down the bottom.
And we have squid, you can use squid, tip the bucktails with. Just want to have some sort of bait on there, so when the fish bite it, they will taste it, and then what we would like to do with those bucktails is that if your bait does come off, we don't move around in the current.
Even though sometimes we do leave our bait down there, we will still get it.
There is a fish. Might be big! Here we go, there is a nice fish. This one is not a sculpin!
See what have we got here. Might be a little fish. Feels heavy! So you get there pretty quick, I get that it isn't even there.
It's like this hinge is simple windup, don't have to pump it or anything. It's nice and easy cranks. And see the reel I am using, it's small, Penn International 975. It's filled out with 20 pound test line. The rod I am using is one of my Inshore Rods. I use this for everything, for calico bass, smaller white sea bass, even small tuna fish,
See what we got here. It is deep color. Yeah, this is a little cod. We have got bucktail! This fish has to be a lot bigger to be legal in California. This is sort of a little baby one. No where near close to being legal, we'll let this guy go.
