Well, it’s early in the morning, just before reptile show and my last task here is to catch a day
gecko. I know a lot of people have asked me how do you catch day geckos, they’re so quick. So
today, I want to give you a little demonstration of how we catch day gecko at Supreme Gecko.
I’ll be right back as I empty the tank and get ready to catch this day gecko. Okay, I’ve cleared
everything out of the tank, all the plants, all the branches and everything, what I want to do now
is get the container ready for the day geckos. It’s better to do this now, before you catch them,
rather than after. So I’m going to moisten up paper towels here, put it in my cup and have my top
handy, so that I can get it when I need it, once I catch these day geckos. I’ve tried using nets
before and that works, but I found that this clear deli cups work a lot better. So now it’s just a
matter of getting the day geckos out into the open and then capturing the day geckos with the deli
cup. Okay, I’ve positioned the day gecko out to the front of the tank so I can reach easier with
my deli cup, what I’m going to do is slowly position the deli cup over the day gecko, head first
and then put the whole deli cup over the day gecko. If I do this right, the day gecko’s not going
to try to run out of the tank, but should stay right in the same position. And again, I’m going to
go very, very slow here, the slower you go, the less offensive you appear to the day gecko. And I
have the day gecko, okay, now we have the day gecko, what I’m going to do is just slowly again
slide this top right over the deli cup. Again, if you do this the right way and take your time, the
deli cup, the day gecko, doesn’t seem to mind too much. So I have it on top, I’m gonna try to
slide the top on just a little bit here and I’m gonna pull it out and secure the paper towel and the
day gecko. And there we have it. Watch the day gecko’s tail. Try not to get the tail caught in the
top of the deli cup. Watch its fingers, obviously, and there we go. Day gecko’s in the container.
