Let us talk about ways to celebrate the 4th of July.
“Liberte Fraternite,” you know, Statue of Liberty and all that great parades. That is one of my favorite things to do, I do not know about you. But if you like spectacles—a parade is a great way to celebrate the 4th of July.
Of course decorating the front of your house with flags or ribbons—red, white, and blue, is always fun. But I think, part of the whole concept of the 4th of July is really celebrating freedom—freedom of expression, etcetera and of being individuals.
So, not only going to a parade can be fun, but you can actually participate in the parade and that is more fun than anything.
Every year, my son and I are in the 4th of July parade. I put on my stage skates and I skate in a costume. Last year, I was the Statue of Liberty. And my son, in his go-cart gives me 25-feet, so I have enough space to move.
Now some people would just go and march in the parade. Some people would bring a pony and decorate their horse. Some people will ride in their car. Some people just like to go and watch the parade. Parties are a good idea but just bear in mind that people have to get home.
So, unless you are prepared to have a camp out and that is a fun thing to do for 4th of July. Have a barbeque and tell people to bring their tents! If you have a yard they can hang out and then just do a little camping, sort of thing overnight—that will also arrange for someone to the safe drive home because what is really the best way to the 4th of July is to make it to the 5th.
