Hello and welcome to this video tutorial. I am going to show you how to chipmunk your songs which basically just changes the pitch of your audio files so that it sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks.
So basically, you should have to download a free program. It is a freeware and it is called Audacity, the best audio editing software out there so far and that is free. I will just have to provide this link in the description in the right. Basically, I just want to click here to download Audacity how ever you want to pronounce it and click download or you can download the Beta. I have downloaded the original.
And you will also need a copy of the LAME MP3 Encoder and you can just click here and then you will have it basically just after you downloaded it. Just drag the DLL file anywhere in your computer. I've shown this in a couple of other videos. Basically, I just made a folder and drag it into the folder. Basically, you just have to be in a permanent place. You can read the directions on what it means sort of, if you get what I mean by that. After that, you just run and install over Audacity and then open it up.
And when you open it up, just double click it or it should like something like this which should have load pretty quickly and now you want import your songs or song, just click file and open and scroll down. For this example, I am going to get by Viva La Vida by Coldplay because it just had lots singing in it and it will import it for like 10 seconds or so or five seconds depending on the song. You can preview the song. I am just going to fast forward a little or I do not know where it is, just play it from here.
So basically, you got an idea of the pitch at regular. So now, I am just going to show you how you are going to change the pitch and the difference it makes. So, you are going to click Ctrl-A on your keyboard which is Ctrl is on the left bottom corner. It says Ctrl which stands for Control and then A and hold Ctrl and then just press A to select the whole thing and then click Effect and then click Change Pitch and basically in the beginning, you got the percent change to 0.000.
So that just means, it is set at normal and what you can do is you can change it and make it higher. I usually make it about 72 or so and around I mean high 60s or low 70s, I do not know. You can mess around with that and just click OK. It will take a couple of seconds to change the pitch and it will sound really, really high and it is going to be really funny and you can do this on a variety of songs by the way. Any MP3s you have or WAV. Then just click Play again.
And as you can see, that was a big difference and if you can actually hear the audio from my headphones, I just put the mic up to there and how about that? But anyway, that is basically it. So enjoy your chipmunk songs. You could add some more effects and you can actually get pretty good about this, just watch some other tutorials.
That was a just a quick tip here with Audacity or Audacity; I do not know how to pronounce it. I will have this link in the right. Actually, I will just this and this to make it easier on you guys and just get your favorite song, change the pitch to about 70% or so and then just watch it really, really high and then. You can send it to your friends and laugh about it and stuff and after you have finished your whole song, you have done all the editing so I will click File and click Export as MP3. This is why we needed that LAME.DDL file, this option is not here normally. I just want to click it and basically just saves it.
Weird thing here is, it saves it in Windows System32 which is a weird fire away, so you just want to click here and then once clicked, Browse folders or if you are in XP, it is different. Sorry if I keep pausing but anyway, just find the place to your music folder and then save it there instead of Windows 32 whatever, just click Save, it will save it and you should probably rename it or it’s going to replace the file so you put like, CHIPMUNK VERSION or something, just click Save.
Now that’s it for the video tutorial. I hope that this video helped you and thanks for watching and I will catch you guys later.
