Hi this is Roger DeReu. My website is freecomputerconsultant.com and what this screencast is about is how to change the resolution of your video monitor and what it displays on the screen.
The image you see right now is set at 800 by 600 and that is really about the lowest resolution you will find much anymore and even very few people are still using this.
But my website was optimized to this screen resolution, 800 by 600 because that was so pretty popular a couple of years ago and the people, they did not have very larger monitors, really could not go much hard than this and still be able to read everything comfortably.
Sot that was everything was optimized for but larger monitors have come way down in price and they are out there and people are getting higher resolutions, very few people really run 800 by 600 but I wanted to show how to change that screen resolution before I change my actual website.
So under this little screencast, it really pretty easy to do, you can simply minimize everything on the screen, to where you just your open Desktop here and pick an empty area and right click and then select properties wit the left click. Here you have your Display Properties, you can also get here through the Control Panel but you—across the top here in the Settings tab, it is over here on the right. And here it shows you what monitor if it is properly and you installed and recognize by Windows and what Video Card. And if that is all set up correctly, you should not have quite a few different options for screen resolution at this highest Color quality over here.
You can see it is currently 800 by 60, we will just move that up one notch, to 1024 by 768 and we’ll click Apply.
Now Windows might be asking you to kind of approve the image and giving you kind of 15 second countdown where if you do not click OK, it will go back but I have done this resolution before and it’s obviously easily on this system.
If everything is ok, you can see everything correctly. You can just click OK and you are done. You are now at 1024 by 768.
And that is really all there is to it. You can go up higher if you like, if your equipment will support it and if your eyes can deal with that, okay. But my website will be changed here real soon to be optimized for the 1024 by 7688 and you can not really see it on the screencast but we now have just a lot more you know, room available and we could stretch things out. We can see more on the screen, more above the fold as they say on the web page.
So that is what we are going to be moving to and wanted everyone to know how to be able to make that change and even to change it back necessary.
Sot that is it for this screencast, I ask you to please visit my website freecomputerconsultant.com. You can sign up for my free newsletter and I have got of other videos and other helpful information on there. But that is it for now. Thanks for watching.
