Hi and welcome to Watchmojo.com. I'm Veronica Delfino here to show you how to save time, money and best of all impress your man. Some men think that it's all tough when it's time for them to get under their car and change their oil. Well, ladies we're going to show them up by not only changing our own oil but by doing it with a manicure.
Before you impress your man by sliding under your car, you need to know when it's time to get under there. Most people recommend every 5000 kilometers. But to be sure check your manual. Step number one is to drain the oil after you let the engine cool.
Okay girls, for this car you're going to want to wear nice shoes because that's all you're going to be able to see for the most part. Now for most cars you aren't going to need to jacket up but if you have a ground tugging car, you may need to. Don't worry it's not because you have a big butt.
So get under there with a pan to catch the oil. Find the oil drain plug and with a box wrench, remove the oil plug turning it counter clockwise. When the oil stops draining, reinstall the plug. And you don't need your man's muscles to do this. If it feels like you do, it's because you're doing it wrong.
So now the old oil's out, now it's time to add the new filter in. Move the catch pan under the oil filter and get ready for things to get a little messy. So roll up your sleeves because you will get some oil on your hands. Now is the hard but not impossible part, you want to put the new filter in, tight but not too tight.
So girls, you know when don't have time to paint your nails and you throw your nail polish into your purse, you give it that one last squeeze, just to make sure that it doesn't spill everywhere. So this is the same concept. If you tighten it too much, you're not going to be able to undo it and if you don't tighten it enough, the oil will spill out and shut off your engine.
Now for the final step, find the oil filter cap and pour in the new oil. After turning on the engine and making sure that oil light shuts off and there are no leaks. You're ready to go. Just check the oil with the dipstick one more time and you're ready to roll.
