I'd recommend backing up explorer.exe so you can replace it with the original if you mess something up when you edit it. Just copy it to explorer.exe.bak or something. Better yet, if you're tired of the "Start" button, you can do away with it entirely, even replace your entire operating system! For free! Just install Linux!

When you go into the system32 folder, which folder do you go to after that, there is no dllcache folder :S S: :S

Go to C and Windows Folder.

Open explorer.exe with a resource editor. ResHacker is a good choice.

Now, type something fun.

Save file on Desktop.

Now, go to system32/dllcache folder.

Copy and post our explorer.exe here.

Yes.

Push ctrl+alt delete.

Close explorer.exe.

Open cmd.

Using “cd” command, go to desktop (cd desktop)

Type copy explorer.exe c:\windows

Type yes

Now, you must wait a while. Windows file protection dialog should appear soon.

Click cancel and yes

Push ctrl alt delete

Click new task and type explorer
