How to Change the Oil in a Cadillac
For this operation you’ll need three things. If you have A 4.6 liter Seville you will need
eight quarts of oil and appropriate oil filter and an oil drain pan. Okay, so what you have
to do now is do what I’m doing and what you call idle for a bit for it to heat up then, if
put into your drawing jack up and we’ll get to our next step. Okay, so once you have
jacked up your car and secured it on jack stands, I'm sure to mention that if I say jack up
your car, you know, I mean jack it up and put on jack stands because you're going to be
working underneath it.
So you want to go underneath your car now. Get one of those fancy back rolling thing
you use and then use that, you know, and then you just crawl under your car and bring
and directing that harder than I do. Anyway so once we get under here we will see this
thing the wrench attached to what is the oil pan. Now, you want to make sure that you get
that bolt off of the oil pan and that you don’t take anything off of this big trunk of metal
over here because that is your transmission.
If you are unsure as to what this looks like on your car then either, contact your dealer,
will step up online, buyer pair of guide, and look in your owner’s manual. Maybe it’s in
one of those places. So in here, once you get this point in here your wrench on the oil pan
you want to slide your giant oil drainer underneath it.
Now, if you have a 1999 Cadillac Seville STS or really any 4.6 liter in V8 Seville you are
going to be draining 7.5 quarts or oil out of your engine. So make sure that you have a
drain that is big enough to hold all of that. And once you have let all the oil drain out of
your engine you want to remove this which is your oil filter. Now, you want to do about
inch confusing contraption right here. When you do remove it, you want to drain it on
preferably on top of your oil pan. There is a place we some top of mind for you to do that
there’s on yours.
Just hold it over your oil pan and drain it that way each shouldn’t take too long. After
removing all your oil you bring the oil filter. You can proceed to putting the engine oil
pan bolt back on and putting your new oil filter on, mine is here mobile right now.
Because it depends on point of reference over if you can see the little rubber gasket
around the top of the oil filter. What you want to do before you screw it on is take either
like a little bit of the used oil or finger dripper or something of the new oil and just get
that through a rubber gasket a little bit damped with the oil. So it makes a better seal on
contact.
Okay, once you are ready to put in your new oil. You have to find your oil cap on a
Seville. It’s very easy. Right there, it says engine oil. It also at least you put it soon all
Cadillac’s but I can only say a Seville for certain. It says the weight of the oil when you
buy new oil you want to make sure that it has those same numbers on it. So, 10W30 is
what you need for a Seville’s North Star V8.
