Hi, this is Mike Callahan Dr. File Finder and welcome to your butterscotch.com Tutorial. On how to check for spy ware on your MAC, now MAC don’t have the problem with spy ware that PC’s do but I think it never hurts to a little bit cautious, so I have a program here called MAC scan, I like it a lot, I use it, I have it run everyday and it has a built in scheduler. So I have it run everyday at noon Monday through Friday, it checks for attracting cookies any spy ware that might have snuck on to my MAC while I was out surfing the internet.
You can see here on the main screen it shows you a status of the last scan that detects the 13 tracking cookies. I've run 21 scans and those 21 scans are detected 298 pieces of spy ware. You click here on scan you can see you can do a quick scan which scans this folder here. You do a full scan which scans the entire hard drive or you can create your own custom scan that scans folders that you want. I normally do a full scan, I'm just going to show you a quick scan starting, takes off, it scans very quickly going through this files already it's found 9 tracking cookies. That probably just since this morning, so go very quickly, go through and now if I cancel it you see here it shows the things that it found I could say isolate it ask me if I am sure I want to remove those tracking cookies absolutely. It tells me that one of my web browsers is open do I want it to close it, so I say YES. It's removing the tracking cookies verifying the removal and I'm all done, no threats here.
So this is a quick and easy way that you can scan your MAC to check fro tracking cookies and other spy ware that’s out there. But definitions are updated frequently and that’s all there is to it.
