One of the old rules of Hatha Yoga was that if the person touches you, then you should leave. The new rule is if the "studio" has a name that says anything other than Hatha is is a commercial business and has nothing to do with Yoga.

How to Choose A Yoga Instructor

How do you choose a Yoga Instructor? I think as a new student walking into the yoga class, first and foremost, you should find someone who resonates with you. I think laughter is very important. Also are they knowledgeable about the subject. Are they sharing? Do they have a good knowledge of the history of yoga? Do they honor their teachers? Do they talk about their teachers a lot? That’s very, very important. Are they living example of what they are talking about? Do they make you feel a little uncomfortable? Do they take you out of your comfort zone? Because that is good you know because life is going to take you out of your comfort zone. So you always have something to learn, in some way can actively kind of take you a little bit beyond. Otherwise, you don’t grow. So I think those are really good qualities to find in a teacher. You should take as many classes with as many teachers as you can before you decide on a specific school or specific class.
