You know, I never need to understand why they call them closet systems but I guess I will find out today because I am here at California Closets getting a reader’s question and answer and you know organization really is not exactly my favorite topic to talk about but I actually kind of reach ahead because of what you can see here. There are a lot of pretty cool things.
Walking into a California Closet is like walking into a neat and tidy gadget store filled with many surprises. There are kinds of pull outs, push ins and clover tools that are made to make your life easier but despite their usual function and serene appearance, I could have feelings closet systems work susceptibly simple.
You know, when you hear the word closet and system together, it is kind of a little intimidating and I do not know about you but as soon as I hear it, my brain shuts off. It is just like when I see the instruction manual. You know, it is like too complicated, do not do want to do with it so I am really hoping today that we will find out that closet systems are not as hard as they sound.
Given my skeptical stance, Jean Chene, the VP of franchise operations at California Closets was the perfect person to teach me about the closet systems. After all, she is such a pro at designing closets that she now trains people how to do it. So, teaching me a few insider tricks was as simple as well the closet looked.
Meghan: What is a closet system? For somebody who does not know it, how do you even define that?
Jean: ` I would define it if you think about the closet is the structure. So, your walls are the closet. You are the user or part of the closet because its system whatever it is attach to it, it allows you to put the things you want to put in the closet or some thing. Even that pull-in shelf that every body had in their younger years, that is a closet system and there are wider systems. There is a self-system. There are companies that do it for you. They give the designing for you. They do not the designing for the setters, a wide variety nowadays and different systems that you can even get in.
Meghan: For summary, different closet systems to choose from, it is best to narrow down the selection to keep from being overwhelmed which of course, means focusing on the quality closet systems. Now, you know this is the hardest question but how do you know you have a good quality closet systems like are there certain ways for you to, like certain questions to ask or certain things to look for.
Jean: Personally, I like to look at how long the company has been around, what their warranties, what their reputation is, there is now in the web, you can do searches on people and you can find out what kind of complaints have been filed against them and we look for contract or licenses or what requirements your area of the country are and if they do meet those requirements and to make sure that they have employees not subcontractors.
Meghan: You can also tell a good closet system by looking at how it is put together and how it is customized to fit your needs. Are there any designs or features to look for when you are looking for closet design from one company to another that will tell you that the closet design is better?
Jean: I would personally look at how they ask me and made it individualized by myself so it is more personally designed. I would look at how the system works as I spoke about earlier, the depth of the system to make sure that it is fitting things accurately or fitting things properly in width and so taking a look at how wide the items are that you can fit two items next to each other, not one and a half and I would just look at the detail of how they worked with you and made it personal for what your needs are.
Meghan: For example, Jean explained a good closet system has 14inches deep shelves which are the exact depth of a folded sweater as for the width of shelves, they should be in multiples of 11 to 12 inches because that is the width of a folded sweater.
