some tips that you can implement immediately to get your house ready for sale so
come along with me we’re going to be visiting, Kelly Moore today. Okay so
we’re inside and I’m going to take you straight too where the have other paint
chips and show that hundreds and hundreds of colors to choose from and the nice
thing is you know this can be a little bit overwhelming for a lot of folks but they
crap this really great simplest I can help you like this is for comfortable living
interior collection and I’m going to show you examples of rooms so you can see
what it looks like when its done and then inside it shows you all the different
color choices with little swatches paints chips inside.
Exterior colors, same thing they’ve got samples here little colors brought to give
you an example of how you can combine the colors together, I really like this one
right here so tallow with the risotto and the that use that quite of it. I’m going to
be interviewing the store manager Tide.
Tide: I am hi!
Alice Chan: Say hi Tide.
Tide: How are you?
Alice Chan: I’m good.
Tide: Nice meeting you.
Alice Chan: Tell us a little bit about some of the things that are available here at Kelly Moore
and what somebody can expect when they walk in.
Tide: What you are doing to expect is you can expect great service from all, I got to
familiar this a little bit but you can get great services actually and you are going to
get a new line of products.
Alice Chan: Okay.
Tide: We offer green coat which is zero VLC products it’s green and friendly to the
environment type of product.
Alice Chan: Good.
Tide: In every color you like or any color you like.
Alice Chan: Okay now they’re available in all those colors that we just saw?
Tide: All those colors that you just saw you can get in barcode in, yes you can and we
have a lot of new everything here, we have a lot of new update paint with only
facility that recycle paint.
Alice Chan: Okay.
Tide: And put it back on the market for safe.
Alice Chan: Now how is that work?
Tide: We send it all to Sacramento and they blend all water base light colors to go and
then we make seven or ten stock color out of it.
Alice Chan: Oh great.
Tide: So it doesn’t have a waste.
Alice Chan: Now is that just paint that you have in the store or can people actually bring there
painted in?
Tide: Oh now you can’t bring your paint in, we are not allowed to send it back what we
do were far you to place in can.
Alice Chan: So somebody is walking in and they’re about to put the house in the market, what
would you recommend that they do? What type of paint would your recommend,
what colors would you recommend then?
Tide: I would recommend our contractor series paint, this is not the cheap and it terrible
paint, it’s not the high in since they’re seven and it’s going to color great and it’s
going to be great to protect for the next person to be there.
Alice Chan: Okay can you show me an example of that?
Tide: That product is this can be this blue lake.
Alice Chan: Okay.
Tide: Okay and all the other contract in line is blue they comes in flat, semi gloss and
anything you need and get this contractor that you need.
Alice Chan: And what kind of price they’re looking at?
Tide: Price point in looking at about 23 to about 31 compare to 29 to close to 44 for
premiums so it’s a good price point and it’s a great quality thing in work.
Alice Chan: Okay now, when you are talking about shin can you expand on a little bit what
type of shin it would you recommend in different part of the house.
Tide: Sure, every in any other part of the house except for what the exception of the
kitchen and the bathroom I like to mean eggshell. Eggshell like the eggshell
because you can wipe it down or flat you are just can to rub the panel.
Alice Chan: Exactly.
Tide: Okay, so what’s I have in my wall here is yolk.
Alice Chan: Okay.
Tide: Well that’s 90 but you can wash it down.
Alice Chan: Right.
Tide: Okay so I would recommend that for all of the common area bedrooms, living
room, great rooms any type of rooms that doesn’t require a semi gloss coating like
a bathroom or kitchen.
Alice Chan: Okay this kind is what they’ve talking about because I always recommend
eggshell because again you can wipe it down, flat and some like chalk you rub
again instead and that’s it, its over.
Tide: Now carrier product called Door Epoxy which have the same quality to the oil
base for those people who are use the oil base paints but it’s a water base and it
perform just a zero better than oil base paint.
Alice Chan: Okay.
Tide: Inside.
Alice Chan: And can you explain the difference between a water base and the oil base paint.
Tide: Okay, water base paint is like water clean up, you can add water to it. Is this made
of water, it’s easy to clean up, it’s better for you and the environment. Oil base
paint is made up with oil and different type of binders and pigments that requires
paint in there cleaning which is no good because you have to dispose and this has
waste materials.
Alice Chan: Right, why even make that anymore.
Tide: They always have good to send it that is going to be out of here for a reason we
don’t carry much anymore.
Alice Chan: Okay good. And water base paints dry faster as well.
Tide: They dry faster and they don’t get yellow. When you get the white color that’s oil
base they tend to yellow all the time.
Alice Chan: So you see that a lot in older homes?
Tide: Right, older home and it gets real brittle and the easy test before if you don’t
know if you have water oil base is to take it shift off the wall and try to bend
them. It will breaks brittle in your hand and it always looks it been and it’s
flexible and it works.
Alice Chan: Oh really? Okay. Well thank you for that. Okay so let’s talk about color, where
would you recommend people start when they’re looking to sell there property,
I’d like to hear it from your prospective.
Tide: I recommend our white charges is perfect for semi property, most of this are stock
colors I recommend blues coffee was that whiter around the trim door there and
then I recommend froze where is a off white as real warm off white.
Alice Chan: Okay
Tide: It goes in any color or any piece furniture you have, it goes really well. If you
want to add a little color let’s say wall like we have.
Alice Chan: Okay.
Tide: You can go with the— I like and a lot of people like wise out which is a nice took
type of color it’s very warm color that are or the snip attending which is a couple
shade lighter.
Alice Chan: Sure this is bad a quite of bit.
Tide: So I recommend all those and anything else I wouldn’t go too much into color if
you are tying to sell.
Alice Chan: Okay, now in your professional prospective what is neutral mean to you?
Tide: Neutral to me means something that is going to not clash with any other color,
neutral to me is the off white you tend something it doesn’t clash like a green or a
red. Neutral to me means can go with anything.
Alice Chan: Okay.
Tide: That was mean in my opinion, someone says I want something neutral it means
they need something to blend with everything else in there house.
Alice Chan: Now what about exterior paint, what are some of your recommendation that you
have for exterior?
Tide: Exterior paint, color is in a lot of different colors are in the most top of our paint
is Spanish sand it’s really popular.
Alice Chan: It’s a very pretty color.
Tide: With a— a lot of people are doing red doors and red shadows they see from
pictures. This is the popular color which is dorado and this is popular on the door
especially this right here is very popular color and we also give you a color
combination in our chart that you can put together we recommend a couple of
colors to go with each other.
Alice Chan: Okay.
Tide: Okay, and you know I’m not say probably the tense in basis are the most popular
right now with the mix of brown and red that colors came is really great.
Alice Chan: Specific to the do it yourself or somebody that is not hiring a professional so
they’re beyond choosing the paint color and they actually need to do the work
themselves.
Tide: Do the work themselves, but I recommend coming in and speak on some
professional and also don’t try to cut too many corners, don’t spin go to high on
the high in but don’t cut the corners because you usually come back and do it
again because you can see time and time again and make sure you get all the right
tools, the right brushes and have someone guide you around and learn what you
need to do what’s the coverage would you need to premiere those really help you
out if you are doing yourself kind of person. Water base paint so all the way,
water base paints is awesome and it’s better for you and you won’t smell paint for
a week and half after you’ve done.
Alice Chan: Well thank you very much Tide, I appreciate your help today.
Tide: Thank you.
Alice Chan: Alright to come out to Kelly Moore located here in Freemont on Freemont
Boulevard and come see Tide he helps you out. Hope you enjoyed your fieldtrip
today to the Kelly Moore paint store and we got lots of really great information
and tip from Tide our store manager here at out local Freemont Kelly Moore. I
encourage you to visit your local paint store and get some tips from the
professional there, that’s what they are for. And we learn something today that
color on the exterior of our home is really popular right now and if you want to
bet a little bit safer on the interior of the home you know go for the more neutral
crèmes and toffee colors and my personal opinion is that neutral doesn’t
necessarily have to stay within those color schemes. We can get a little bit bolder
without getting too personal with the color choices so I hope you found the tips
helpful in helping you and get your house ready for sale so good luck and I look
for you to sharing more tips and strategies with you and in your future. Take care
and have a great week.
