Timothy Patton: Justin, sunscreens come in a number of different formulations so these formulations include creams, lotions, gels, sprays, sticks. For oily skin, ethanol based products are usually considered the best because of the drying part that it is the ethanol and in this instance sprays and gels would probably be the most tolerated by patients with oily skin. Compliance is actually important if the correct formulation is chosen that allows the patient to be a little bit more happy with what they are using and will increase compliance which will in turn increase efficacy. Other considerations besides the formulation of course are the SPF of the sunscreen and whether or not the sunscreen protects against both UVA and UVB radiation.
