Hi, let us talk about choosing wedding vows.
It is important that whatever wedding vows you decide to choose. Take something that, first of all, that means something to you and that is close to you heart. Even though a wedding is really not a performance—it is not a show, I can tell you that a lot of people most people, will get a little nervous when they are standing up in front of other people having to, you know, publicly say things that are not coming straight from their own head or heart.
So, when you are choosing a vow that is out of a book or some kind of a, it could be I mean there is so many sources for wedding vows. You really should try to think of what is most important to you, what is comfortable for you. You can go to libraries for all kinds of, you know, looking for books that have love as a theme or relationships or marriage and I am sure you will find a lot of things on the internet or ask your local church if you are having a religious ceremony. There are scores of examples of vows that you can choose from.
But once again is most important, that whatever you choose there is something that you feel very comfortable saying out loud because the worst thing that can happen is that you start to stutter or stumble or get tripped up on the words. Choose something that is simple that is not to lengthy, something that is easy enough to read and for people to understand in the space that you were having your ceremony in.
If it is outside you might want to consider having some kind of a microphone system because when you are in the open air, it is hard for people to hear you if they are far away. And it is important for people to be able to share that special moment with you.
And do not be shy to check in with each other and ask each other, “What do you think of this? How do you feel about it?” You want to make sure your partners okay with hearing what you are going to read or recite because you do not want them cracking up or turning red, beat red, you really have to be comfortable and there is many wedding vows, once again as there are people in the world.
So enjoy, take the time, and enjoy the process.
