How to Choose a Babysitter

Hi, we are going to talk about choosing a babysitter. I would think -- for me the most important thing of all would be to find somebody who you know is going to be fun for your kid to be with and be responsible. Often, children that you already know are sometimes the very best babysitters because you know what their personality is like and you know their families and you know if they are sitting be cause they want to and they love kids not just because they are looking for money. There are other ways of finding babysitters of course then through word of mouth and through your friends and those ways would require a lot more back up -- you need to check references, you need to meet with the person first I would imagine and you would want to make sure that they are readily available, that they have a cell phone, that they answer it promptly and you might want to sit down and have some kind of an interview with that person and ask them what kinds of experience that they have had and what they would in case of an emergency ,not to drill them but just to get an idea of whether or not that person is actually going to be someone that you feel safe leaving your child with.

It's important that you are comfortable when you leave your house to go out on a date or something that you know that your kid are in good hands. Some other things that you might want to ask them about is if they have had CPR training that's awesome. Any kind of work that they have had with children is a big plus. I would not recommend anyone who has never done it before, only because you have no way of knowing how they are going to be with your kids and of course you always want to check with your children after, see how they feel, ask them how they thought the babysitter was what kinds of things that they did so that you can keep track of who was a good sitter and who was not and always try to pick the one that you think your kid is going to be the most comfortable with.
