How to Choose a Handbag
Rhiannon Ally: It’s one of the trendiest handbag shops in Allegany Village. Better contributor Anna D’Souza introduces us to the two women behind MZ Wallace handbag
Anna D’Souza: Hi ladies, are you looking for the latest in handbag trends? Well today we’re here at MZ Wallace in New York City where we’ll be talking to founders Monica Zwirner and Lucy Wallace Eustice and they’re going to be telling us what we should be looking for in that brand new handbags.
So, what is it that women should really be looking for when they are up searching for new handbag?
Lucy Wallace Eustice: I think one of the primary things is function and pocketing. You want a bag that can hold everything that you have to carry around regardless of what type of woman you are, whether you are working or you’re stayed home mom. This is a great option. This is one of our best selling bags and it has four pockets on the front, two pockets on the back, two additional side-pockets and inside each of our bags are an additional set of four pockets. Two more technology pockets, metro card pocket and this interior zip pocket. So there’s something for anything that you’d want to carry.
Anna D’Souza: And what’s really great about this particular in your whole line in general is that you have a light coating on the inside.
Lucy Wallace Eustice: Yes, exactly. We tried to always do a contrast lining so that when you are rummaging around and looking for things, you can actually find them.
Anna D’Souza: So tell us more of a little bit about what the outside of the bag should look like. Can you have a lot of options here that have a waterproof coating?
Lucy Wallace Eustice: Yes, a lot of the bags that we make, we really tried to make as waterproof, water-repellant, stain-repellant and water-repellant as possible. So this has a sort of very shiny thicker coating and this is a coated canvas. This is a lighter coating but still providing just as much water repellency with a sort of tight dyes with knitted pattern on it which is very much around at the moment.
Anna D’Souza: And tell us a little bit more about the cross body trend that’s you know really big this spring and all women really just looking for a little bit more versatility.
Monica Zwirner: We’ve seen women again and again coming into the store and asking for cross body bags for options on how to carry bags. This bag is one which comes in two sizes and you can extend the handle so it can be a top handle, short or you can extend it right now until in the mid point. You can make it a shoulder bag.
Anna D’Souza: That’s great.
Monica Zwirner: That is showing that you have a cross body options if you really want to fill it up, put a laptop and you can make it.
Anna D’Souza: Exactly. Well you tend to use that one shoulder and it sorts to hurt after a while, so it’s good to have the option of changing it over to the other shoulder. And then tell us a little bit more about the muted color trend and the water color trend and you really think it’s going to translate into the fall?
Monica Zwirner: A lot of our bags in fact it can work you around, and that’s why we like the neutral color so much because you can really – it doesn’t end at Labor Day and it doesn’t begin you know. So for instance, this color, it’s fantastic with white, it’s great with navy, it’s great with black and it’s a spring bag but you could certainly you wouldn’t look strange carrying this in the fall.
Anna D’Souza: Well, there you have it ladies, form, functionality can all co-exist. If you’d like more information you can visit MZWallace.com.
