Kathleen Lisson: Hi, I am Cathleen. Thank you for watching my video tasting. Today, I tried a glass of Cantele Negroamaro Rosato Wine, which is from Italy, so please excuse any of my mispronunciations, because I am Irish. This is an Italian wine. It's an IGT and it's a rose wine from the Salento region of Italy. This wine has a 12.5% alcohol level and very big paws
Now after they harvest and crushed the grapes for this rose wine, the juice has skin contact for about 12-18 hours and then free run juice is separated from the skins and fermented in stainless steel. When I tried this wine, I found it actually very pleasant with strawberry and raspberry nodes and a backbone that reminded me of a bigger redder wine, which is why I came up with the theory that it's a little pup with very big paws. You definitely know what this wine will grow up into, if it was left on its skin for a little bit longer than just the 12-18 hours. Salento is in the Southern part of Apulia, which is the heel of Italy's food. It paired well with my dinner tonight. It was a little -- it was breezy today and tonight what's going to be, what we call here in the North-East, sleeping weather, which is maybe 60s. You can leave the window open, get a good night sleep with the breeze there. So it's definitely not the heat of summer.
So I decided to have something of little early fall food for dinner. I had penne pasta. I put some pesto on it. Some Parmesan cheese and threw in a couple of walnuts, just for some added taste. It definitely paired wonderful with the penne pasta. So I would recommend it. It's also -- I think would be a wonderful picnic wine. If it gets a little bit warmer and there is sign for some picnics. Some of you who are in the more Southern region, South of Albany in New York, and I think it's also a good end of summer transition wine, because when it's really hot out in the summer, you really enjoy the white but in the winter, it's a little bit colder out, maybe the snow is falling, you really like those big red wines. This is a sort of a transition wine with the official wine of September, because you can have it out in the picnics and then also as it gets a little colder, it can definitely pair with some of your fall foods. Thank you very much for watching, and try Rose this September.
