My wife and I want to have a balance family of boys and girls, are there any options available to make sure that happens? Dr. Jef Ferguson: Well Chris it’s all up to you. Seriously you carry the sperm which determines the gender of the child. Now, you have no way of knowing which sperm is going to be the first to reach the egg. But seriously there are some methods that can be used by reproductive endocrinologist in which you can try to separate the sperms so that you increase the likelihood of having either a male or a female. Now all that being said, science is great but in reality I don’t think it’s a great idea to focus too much on having one sort of child from a gender standpoint compared to another because you just want to love everyone of them that you have. And if they're healthy it’s great. So yes, we can help a little bit but don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t work out.
