It is about that time of year when we can start to actually paint outdoors successfully. And if you are like me, you are going to pick the right brush, and I will tell you why? Paint brushes are the tool that applies the paint, makes sense but frequently people will make a mistake and buy maybe a cheaper less expensive brush, thinking that they are saving money, big mistake.
A lot of extra time, and you might not get really good paint coverage. Here is what I like to use. Most of the paints outdoors are latex paints. And if you are going to do that, look at the label on the brush, and make sure you buy one that says it is made up of nylon or polyester.
If you look really close to the end of the tips of the brush, you are going to notice that the actual fibers of the brush have got split ends. That is a good thing because it helps spread the paint out as you apply to the surface of the wall. Another nick brush you are going to need is one that is tapered. Notice how the bristles are cut in an angle, and that really helps you paint up in the corners where windows are, or if you have to do really tight accurate work.
Tapered brushes are a must. They also come in different sizes. If you are doing a really fine work, you might need a small one to get more control, so do not hesitate to get a small tapered brush as well. The wider brushes that are square tipped these are the ones that work well on applying paint on big flat, wide open areas. And these also come in different sizes. Here is an inch-and-a half, here is a 3-inch, and finally, there is a 4-inch size.
If you are going to do big pieces of siding, some brushes are so specific that they are actually matched and scientifically engineered to actually match the paint that you are applying. They have the same labels. That is a good thing. Look for those when you go to the paint store. You will get the best results when you apply your paint.
