Hi, I am Robin. I am one of the co-owners of Bowery Kitchen Supplies at the Chelsea Market. And today I am just going to talk to you a little bit about cookware.
Personally, I loved stainless steel. I used a lot of stainless steel. I think that stainless steel is fabulous. But at now in the age of green, I also find that cooking in clay is a fabulous way to cook.
Here, I just have an example of a company that I absolutely adore. It is clay cooking make it. When I say green, I mean you are using a lot less energy because you are cooking on a lower temperature. So, and everything that you are cooking clay just feels so homemade Georgina. So, I recommend try in out the clay and those many-many company that do a lot of clay cookware.
So, if you are going to ask me about cookware, I am going to say, go for a great, you need a great stainless steel stock pot, you need like two great stainless steel frying pans, a couple of fun clay pottery bits, you are good.
Another one of my favorites is the Tajin. A Tajin is really cool because what happens is again, you put this thing -- this baby goes right on the flame, and what happens is the steam sort of gets lock in this cover and what happens to the food is it gets steamed and cooked at the same time so your food is juicy, everything is sort of mixing together getting really-really yummy and happy in there and I really recommend trying working with the Tajin. It is not complicated as people might think it is.
Alright, so stainless steel, okay, we talked a little bit about stainless steel. My suggestion is getting a couple of great stainless steel fry pans. I personally like you know, the clad stainless steel, but you do not have to spend hundreds of dollars on you know, those stainless steels that everybody talks about. You can get great fry pans for like 30’s, you know like $30.00 or so.
I recommend that you have like a good eight inch fry pan, good 10-inch frying pan and a couple of little sauce pans. Maybe one stainless steel stock pot and you are good. You do not have to get every single piece of everything. And also what you should look for is a pan that is a little bit deeper so that if you wanted to fry up like a quick sauce, you could do that in a fry pan. If you just get a fry pan that is a little bit deeper than a regular fry pan, you could do so much more in it, so look for deep fry pan.
So another thing that I recommend having a stainless is a few of this sauce pans okay? Now, this like a pretty nice size one, you can warm up a soup in it, you can actually make little soup in it. You can make rice, whatever. I just feel like everybody should have a little sauce pan with a lid in a few different sizes. You can warm up milk in a smaller one, you can warm up soups. You can do tons of things.
Sauce pans? Must have! I would have a couple of sizes and this bad boys because they do a lot and trust me, having a bunch of these in the house is going to be like a big life saver for you, trust me.
Alright so lets wrap it up, get a couple of good stainless steel fry pans. Nice big stainless steels, a couple of stock pot, a couple of sauce pans. Try clay, clay is fabulous and it saves the environment a little bit because you use less energy.
