Hello YouTube and welcome to TKS HD Season 3. I’m your host Tech Kid 4473. And today, I’m going to show you how to chroma key in Power Director 7 or 6.5 and that’s Cyberlink Power Director. This is fairly easy. This program came with my computer. So, I’m probably going to use that unless I decide to use After Effects instead. You want and probably going to do that. But this is just how to chroma key in Power Director 6.5 and 7.
So, first thing you’re going to do obviously is open up a Cyberlink Power Director and obviously that’s not going to work. So, hang on in one second. They should really update the search box and the Vista start menu. I know they’re doing something to it in Service Pack 2 but it’s not very good. I’ve tried Service Pack 2 and it’s not very nice. Okay. So, I’m getting up the track here so once you open Cyberlink Power Director, you’re going to need one thing or two things pretty much. You’re going to need your background footage. This can be anything really. It can be texts behind you, a logo, whatever. And then you’re going to need footage of you infront of a green screen. I’m probably getting a green screen soon. I don’t have one yet. So, I just created something in Microsoft Paint that I can use right now. It’s funny, stupid but it works.
Okay. So, you’re going to import Media Files and then you’re going to select two things. You’re going to select your chroma key video. For mine, it’s just a simple picture and it’s just a little stick figure, a blue stick figure with a green background, okay. So, you’re going to open that and then you’re going to import your background like a logo or whatever. So for this, I’m just going to use, yeah I’m going to use this website background thing that I use for my desktop. Okay. So, you’re going to take your background right here and put it on the first layer. You’re probably going to want to extend this so at least about 30 seconds maybe or however long your video is. Then, you’re going to make sure your picture in picture track is open and put your chroma key layer right at there too. Okay. Then, double click or extend it or shorten it if you need to. In my case, I’m going to extend it and double click that little picture and picture thing. Okay, resize it so it fits the entire screen. Mine, I can just open it like this. It looks good.
Okay. And then over here in the format area, you’re going to check mark this, the Apply Chroma Key and take that paint dropper tool and paint drop on the green obviously. Okay. Then you’re going to get a little preview on the right area right here and then just take this intensity level slighter and just give it enough so that it can fully get rid of the green on the edges but still keep the actual picture of you because if you do this too much, you’re just going to see yourself fade out. So, about 16 is pretty good for me. Okay. And then you can mess with this so this is green if you want to zoom in or anything, if you have like a really hard to tell chroma key but you can probably just do fit the screen, that will be fine.
Okay, once you’re done going, close this out. And when you’re pretty much down, you can move the chroma key around maybe a little bit more. Pretty much for anyone, you can see yeah the transparent background. Anything that was green is now on transparent and you can mess with it, do whatever you want. So, that’s it. That’s a simple as chroma key gets. And if you want to do this differently, this works if you’re using a video file too so I can use this aquarium one and use this chroma key two, extend it so it’s enough. Go through all these again, chroma key and sorry that’s an alarm going off. So, that’s probably a little bit annoying but you get the point. This actually works with motion footage also. Okay, there we go. Apply the chroma key but if you feel you need to. Perfect! Okay, close that out and you got it. You’re good to go and watch this. You got an animated background or whatever you want. And this guy is totally transparent. I’m going to ruin this green. So, this helps if you want to animate like you’re in space or something. And that’s pretty simple to do.
