How to Clean Green

Many household cleaners contain toxins that are three times more likely to cause cancer than air pollutants. But do not throw in the towel in cleaning yet. If you are not keen on the idea of toxin labeled products, take heart. Many modern cleaning products are based on age old natural formulas that were passed down because the chemistry was right. Going back to natural ingredients is a way to make cleaning products that really work without the negative side effects. Make an all purpose cleanser by combining one half a teaspoon of baking soda, a dash of liquid soap and two cups of hot tap water. Shake in a spray bottle or try making wood furniture polish by mixing one half a teaspoon of olive oil with one quarter cup of lemon juice. Window cleaner is as easy as combining two cups water, one half a teaspoon of liquid detergent and three table spoons vinegar in a spray bottle. With recipes like these, you can keep a clean house that would make grandma proud in more ways than one.
