Hi! My name is Martha Hemmingway and I am teaching basic clogging. Now, we are going to learn some clogging steps where you get to turn in a circle. Earlier, we learned what was called a chain rock step. Let's go with that real quick, just to refresh your memory. Chain rock step was double step, rock step, rock step, rock step, double step, rock step, rock step, rock step. All you need to do is add some arms and turn and you have yourself what is called an airplane in the clogging world. So, we are going to practice this part.
First of all let's just practice turning on the chain rock step. You are going to start on your left and do a full turn to the left all the way back around, five, six, chain rock turn, double step, rock step, rock step, rock step. Right foot is free, we can now turn and go in the opposite direction, start on the right, turn to the right and double step, rock step, rock step, rock step. Okay, now let's add some arms. Got diagonal arms, just remember it is the upper arm that is the one that is leading you around. So, when we get to the right foot, you want this arm to go up to lead you around. Let's put the whole thing together, called an airplane.
Five, six, seven, eight, double step, rock step, rock step, rock step, other way, double step, rock step, rock step, rock step. Now to make it easier so that you are not getting dizzy turning and turning and turning, I think it would be more fun to start with two basics and then do a turn and then two basics and turn the other way. So, let's try that one. Lets do two regular basics and double step, rock step, double step, rock step, now turn, rock step, rock step, two basics right and left and turn right, airplane. Okay, that was the airplane.
Next, I love this next term. Its called walks the dog and walk the dog; this will be something a little new for you because we get to use our heels this time with weight on them. What you are going to do is two double steps and then actually putting your weight on your heel, as you are going to go heel, heel, step, step. So, you are balancing on your heel for just a split second, it wont be very long, and that's called walk the dog. Let's just practice that before we turn with it. Two double steps, two heels, two steps and a one and a two and three and four and a five and a six and seven and eight.
Now, to turn with it you turn when you are on the heels. Let me show you. Do the two double steps, then come up and start turning to the left as you go heel, heel, step, step and you are round. So, facing the front and turning back around to the same thing, two double steps, heel, heel, step, step. So, again, same principle, we don't want to keep turning and turning and turning. So, lets start with two basics first, do a turning walk the dog, two basics again and turn back around. Two basics, five, six, seven, eight and a basic and a basic walk the dog, double step, double step, turn, turn, step, step, two basics, walk the dog, double step, double step, heel, heel, step, step. Okay, next we are gong to work on actual clogging steps that are gong to move form side to side, before turning. Now, we are going to go from side to side. Happy clogging.
