This is the final stage in our throwing progression. Now, they take all the skills and put them together into this one drill—throwing and catching with your glove.
This drill runs for about five minutes. It is important for these players to work on warming up properly without throwing hard. Early in the season, it is important to condition your arm by not throwing hard because the season is usually long. Once again, it is important for these players to catch with two hands and use all the fundamentals previously learned in the drills.
Step to your target with the window. Catch with two hands into your throwing position thumbs to your thigh, knuckles to the sky, releasing the ball in front of your eye. Follow through, bending your back and pushing off your back foot upon throwing.
Remember, it is important to watch the ball out of the player’s hand and all the way into your glove.
