Our next drill in fielding a ground ball is the “Crossover Step”. This step is usually particular when the player has to travel short distance, left or right, to get to the ball.

We begin by, once again our ready position. When the ball is hit, the player must pivot and sprint to get to the ball. We determine that he is doing this properly because his glove-foot is outside and planted, and he feels the ball in the center of his body.
