This is the “Crossover Drill” with an “Overhand Throw”. Now, in this particular instance, the player is going to see the ball come off the bat and get to it by using the crossover step. Picking it up as we talked about sweeping it in, planting and throwing the ball.
You need to do those things when you are playing in the infield or the outfield. You need to see the ball come off the bat. You need to get to it, pick it up, and throw it.
