This is the quick hands, quick feet drill. You want to reach out, point your front arm, get back to your position, pause, catch, turn, throw. That was perfect because you really pointed your throwing glove—your throwing arm.
Get back to your position, catch, turn, point your glove hand, and throw, back to the position, pause. This is an excellent drill for working on following the ball into your glove. Quick hands, getting the ball out of your glove, finding the seams and quick feet getting into a proper throwing position. When you look at Joe’s feet, he turns his back foot sideways and his front foot is able to reach out to the target.
This is a variation of our quick hands, quick feet drill. Notice how the player has to slow down a bit.
Once again, repetitions are going to make this player faster at this particular drill. Joe, I want you to throw the ball up and catch it with two hands. Now find your seams, turn, and throw. Now, that is how it is done slowly. The more you do it Joe, the more comfortable you get. We are doing it slow right now so that you can understand how to get the ball out of the glove quickly, and find the seams. The more repetitions you do, the faster you will get at this drill.
