How to Coach Baseball: One Knee Throw

This is the one-knee throwing drill. This is another step in the sequence of throwing and catching.

Our players are now on one knee. The glove knee is up. The throwing side knee is down on the ground. Using good posture, the player makes a window with his hands. Once again, it is a target for the thrower. It is important for the player to look the ball all the way into the glove catching the ball with two hands, follow through with your throwing arm to the opposite knee just like when we were seated down, legs crossed.

This is a very good warm-up drill. This is a team drill. It is another step before you actually have your player stand up to throw. You would begin with them sitting, then move them to this step which is the one-knee drill, and next would be throwing.
