So if a younger player is starting out with a smaller ball I still recommend starting with things like the figure 8 drill, the spider drill and basic zig-zag drills.

How to Coach Basketball: Full Court Dribbling

[Music Playing] Second time through, now we got in their middle habits in place to look at the back board; they are dribbling it at the correct type. Now we are going to accelerate and tell them to go full speed. Full speed means to dribble as fast as you can under control. Everybody understand? You go as fast as you can under control. We will start dribbling in place. [Whistle] Eyes up on the back board. [Whistle] Eyes up. Partners tell them to get their eyes up. You go twice. When they come back get their eyes up. Again go to dribbling in place then we will go down to court full speed. [Whistle] Eyes up on the board. [Whistle] Eyes up, eyes up, eyes up. [Music Playing]
