Now we are going to extend our dribbling fundamentals for the team, we are going to put them on the baseline. We are going to start them right now. Let us start you in a dribbling position, go ahead and start dribbling. Stop, good, that is how we will start them out. We are going to send them to half court and back or you can go the full length of the court and back. What we want them to do is a couple of basic rules, you dribble the ball hard, you never dribble any higher than your hip, hip height and you always keep your eyes on the wall or the rim at the other end of the floor.
The first time we take them through this we will go half speed or walk speed so that they are learning to get the mental habit of concentrating on the back board then after they have gone up and back twice we will come back, we will work on more acceleration. On a whistle we will go to a dribble in place, the second whistle we go up and back two times at what speed? Half speed. Dribble in place, get your eyes on the back board, half speed, go again, same people, eyes up, put your eyes on the back court, eyes on the back board.
