[Music Playing]
Now, once we have got in shooting mechanics properly, we are working on fundamental lay-ups. They are becoming proper, offensive players but we now want to do is always get them to face up to the rim or to the basket which is the hardest thing for young players to do because they play so aggressive defensively. But we are going to give them the habit to do that, we call this a jump stop and pivot drill. They will always, if they are right handed, jump stop on two feet, make one sound, and they will always pivot on their left foot.
Let us put them through this drill, it will only take a couple of minutes to do everyday, but it will develop some very good habits for you. People lets go this way first, take a couple of steps, jump stop, pivot on your left and do a shooting a triple threat position, good, go the other way, shoot, go the other way, and do a shooting position, shoot. You notice they hold their follow through on their shot, something we trying to get in the habit of shoot and relax.
You only need to complete about ten or 15 repetitions to this on a daily basis to start to get into the habit. I would allow about a month or to early start to be internalize before their playing game.
