Hi, this is Darma. She is a Sonoran desert toad or also called Bufo Alvarius. Ooh, she is puffing up right now, you guys can see her. That means she is a little bit sacred, so hopefully she will relax a little bit.
First I want to point out her glands, and some of them are right here, along the side of her face, like kind of along her neck, and then also in the back, you can see them on her legs. So they are the kind of oval shaped little glands there.
The glands contain 5-MeO-DMT, which is legal in the United States so far, and they also contain bufotenin. Bufotenin is a schedule one. So it is legal to possess her, and sell her and buy her, but it is not legal to actually get the venom out of her glands. So today on video we are going try to do the best we can, and explain how to collect her venom, but not necessarily show it coming out because then it would be illegal.
So what you would do would be to actually hold her, and then you place your hands here, and you squeeze at the base of the gland. She is squirming around.
So she got a little upset, and I put her back in her cage, but I will finish explaining how to collect her gland excretions. What you need is a glass pipe plate, or just a glass plate. You set it up vertical, and you saw how I was holding her. You squeeze at the base of her gland, and there are the glands on the neck and also the glands on her thighs and her legs, and they are the oval shape glands, they are real large. That's one thing that you have to consider. You don't want to over harvest one of them, because then it could make them really unhealthy.
So for every four or five weeks this could be done. Then you just squeeze the base of the gland. So it's kind of similar to squeezing one of your own zits. You squeeze it, and you have the pipe plate sitting vertical, and it squirts out a white milky substance, and then you just lay it all there. You flatten out the pipe plate, and you let it dry. Then you can scrape it up with a razer blade.
