How to Combine Naturopathic Doctors and Medical Doctors

Raena Morgan: Dr. Lepisto the patients that come to see you for treatment, are they also seeing a general practitioner as a rule? Dr. Christopher Lepisto: About half of them have a current MD or DO that they are working with and the other half I'm their initial gate keeper, they come to me first. Now because I work in a collaborative setting with other MD's here in the valley and we will cross refer as needed and it's always ideal for me to have somebody who is with an MD incase certain tests need to be ordered or certain allopathic treatments need to be involved in the overall treatment plan. Raena Morgan: So it's not a conflict of interest. Dr.Christopher Lepisto: No it could be seen as that way and that's usually depending on the doctor, but if the doctors are open enough to work with me I am more than happy too, because is the integrated setting that really offers the most benefit for the patient.
