How to Configure FileZilla's SFTP
Hey, Olly Connelly here. Welcome to this tutorial, we’re going to show you how to set up and configure FileZilla for secure SFTP. And this part 12 of the series set up and unmanaged virtual private server for newbie’s and this a handy detour today because the thing is I'm aware that the series is going to especially useful to Linux newbie’s building method VPS and having them bring one to Windows I know it can be very difficult to found that command like interface without so much of the key you like to be able to check on what you're doing.
So here's an FTP solutions that you can find to the company and tutorial notes which basically expands on this video quite a lot at my website at guvnr.com. And in fact you can see all the various different past of the series up there as well in the index. So that you maybe thinking, well, FTP is another good thing to use as it and you’d be right really if not idea if regular FTP is on uncorrected. What we’re going to be doing is setting up a solution that which is most secure using the same protocol that we use to set up our floppy interface and you know that tutorial in this series.
Well, Linux purist would argue that you should only use the command line to be transferring files. Let's face it if done handy to be able to use some kind of FTP solution so at least we're going to using secure FTP solutions. Another popular SFTP client is called WinSCP. Well, personally I prepare it but it is probably not as use as friendly as FileZilla, FileZilla is evenly the most popular of the SFTP clients and so I'm going to show you how to set that one up.
There are links on my website that’s the way you can download the file and I suggest that you check out the site. Well, I know there have a look and get already there the package for you. It’s probably if you're using Windows that one up there at the top so download that and install it in a regular way and when it’s install open it up and you'll be faced with this. Let's say your computer, well have you? And then this is the server.
And so what we need to do is to make as a connection so you go control F or else click on that thing there it will bring out the site manager and here's one I prepared earlier for way wide of web my test server for this tutorial series. So you want to just pop in a few this else here. And so that’s the same IP address you’ve been using all the way through the series and they got a port that we configured earlier in this series and so you should know what they are.
On the server type you need to go for SFTP, SAH file transfer particle and save particle we use to say a party. And so that’s the one you want there then for your log on type you’ve got a few choices here, you want to get a normal and then you put in your user name, the user name that we created in Linux when we added a new user and so in my case that’s governor and you want to put in a password that you create as well in there. And that’s it as a simple as that go connect. You got a bit of stuff going on here and that say we’re in.
And you can see your basic past structure for your server is here and we’ll be looking at that a little bit more closely in the next tutorial. And that’s it you’ve got a Window to your Linux box so we’re kind of yourself lucky and moving sweetly on we've really move up again now, we're going to find that SFTP time useful on the next part when we create the file structure for multiple sites and blogs. And it’s all pretty much free willing down here from there.
I hope you find that handy. If you have to do is a favor rate this video, as well as the people going to see it.
