Hello everybody, Jason here from the mcintec community bringing you another podcast and I've had some comments from people on YouTube and other places asking how they can get on to the mcintec irc network where our chat room and our network is. So I'm going to show you that right now exactly what you need to do.
So first, you need to download and install mirc. You got to mirc.com and download it and this video is going to be about how to set up mirc. So, assuming I already have it installed, let’s get into this here.
So what we’re going to do is we’re going to double click the mirc icon and you get the screen. After it expires, you can still use the program so just ignore the screen that you see right here. So when you first launch it you’re going to see some things here. Let me zoom in for you. You’re going to see this mirc box and what you’re going to do is you're going to fill on a name. You don’t really need to put your email address here for the email, so I'm just going to put that in. Now, you’re going to choose a nickname that you want. For instant I'm going to be “The J”. So alternative nick if you happen to ping out or something and that nick is in use, I'm just going to make it the J-2.
Next we’re going to go to the server tabs, click that. We’re going to click add and the description we’re going to put mcintec-irc. The server is irc.mcintec.net46667. The group will be mcintec-irc. For this group it has the same mcintec irc. Click add and there we go. Alright, so options you can do connect on start up and then deselect popup connect dialogue on start up so this doesn’t always come up.
So you’re going to go back here, click Select. So it’s selected and ready to go right here, we’re going to click connect. There we go we are connected to our network right now. This box that comes up, you can deselect popup, favorite is connect. Okay, so now we’re going to join the channel. So what we do here is to get into our chat room, we type slash join at mcintec. We are in the chat room.
So you’re in the chat room now we got to register your nick that way no one take it on you. This is easy. So you go to your status window—that way if you do make any mistakes it’s not going to show up in chat room because you may accidentally show your password. To register your nick you type /ns register the password I’m going to make this password thejrulez and then my email address—enter. Right there nickname the J registered your password is thejrulez, remember this. You don’t want to forget that.
So after you got that you’re going to want to put into perform, so you’re going to back to mirc options—tools and option. We’re going to go and click options here and perform, click add, scroll down to where we entered, click OK. First if you want to make sure your nick is always The J, you /nick theJ and enter make sure you put the forward slash (/) in.
Next, we are going to do /ns sid and then on the next line we’re going to do /ns identify and then I type my password. Click OK and OK again. Let’s close that here and let’s launch it again and there we go. We are automatically identified. So it’s going to kill that nick because you are issuing this command and it’s going to change your nick to this. remember I was talking about nickname and alternative nickname, so yes this is useful. There you go. And remember /join to into our chat room and there we go and we can add this to favorites. Click join on connect. It’s on mcintec irc right here, click OK.
So when we go to reconnect, it’s going to automatically join that room. There we are. We are in—founf mcintec. Hopefully this video helped you.
