How to Convert a Honda Motorcycle from Gas to Electric

GOMI STYLE Your host Marque Cornblatt So far, on Gomi style, we have done a few anterior design projects for your home. But today we are in the yard doing something a little bit different, an electric motorcycle conversation. Helping me on this conversation would be my good friend Gazelle, fellow artist, fabricator and motorcycle rider. Starting with this broken Honda Revo , we will strip away the motor, transmission, gas tank, everything that makes it run and then replace them with an all electric dry train. Basically, it is small but powerful electric motor and for big BV batteries plus electronics to make it all work. Let us get through it. Why even making electric motorcycle? There are few answers to that question. First, I hated knowing that I guess power scooter has such terrible emissions. And Second, a little research showed me just how easy this project would. Here we have the Revo frame, all stripped out and cleaned. And the first thing we are going to do to it is start cutting away some of these tabs and mounts from the engine, things are getting in the way of where we want to place the batteries. We are going to put two of them down the bottom here and we are going to weld up a little serve Gaskets for them to sit in. I just use Salza and the 4 inch angle grinder with a cutting blade to clear away this motor mounts from the front and the back of the frame. So now we have a nice big open area in which to fit the first two batteries. And these batteries are heavy more than 50 pounds a piece. So I am welding a strong tray for them to sit in. Only two of the batteries are gone to fit in this trace. So I will also be making 2 smaller holders to carry the other batteries behind the rider, like Salivate. So one thing that I have learned, not a very experience when you are welder and you want to make sure that your welds are good. It is called the drop test. It is really just a one thing that you do. I guess it is welded. I have got my battery tray and this is where it fits. So now all we really need to do is welded to the frame here, here. I think I will put I piece of metal between the gap here. A piece of angle liner turn upside down right between the two would be nice structural support there. Now comes the tricky part. There has not a lot of space left for the motor to fit, so it is going to be a tight squeeze. So once we cut away some of the metal from the swing arm and lower the motor into it, we then again mount the piece of plate steel here and with a couple of holes through it so that we can boot the motor right to it and that is essentially going to be our motor mount. The important principle is that bindle is perfectly in line wit the sprocket that is on the back wheel and that they are both perfectly align this way as well as this way. So got a nice little hole here that allows the motor to sit in there a little more snuggly and we are going to take a piece of paste steal like this and cut it to size and welded up here and have the two holes in it so that we can boot the motor right to it. So while working through the junk yard, I came across the speed up old cartel and I realize that this would be the perfect container for some of the components for the bike. Our cooking pot is in place. This is probably the most Gomi element of the whole bike and I have to admit I really like it. Now we can begin to reassemble the bike. First, comes the front forge suspension. Next, comes rewiring. Head light, breaks all the normal stuff plus the new drive thing electronics. It is a tight feet, but all the electronics fit in the cooking pot. Finally, we can assemble the motor and install that as well. Mountain, reform 132 motor to the swing arm of amenders’ occurrence. The reassemble is almost done. All four batteries are in place and temporarily wide. The motor is mounted and the tires and breaks are ready go. Just some last minute rewiring and bike would be ready for its test ride. It works. It is a quite zero mission success and recharging it is easy as plugging in to any wall socket. It is 45 mile in hour,
