How To Make Perfect Rice
With
Poppy Tooker
Speaker: Today, we're going to talk about how to cook rice. All you need is the rice pot, your finger, the rice and the faucet. This is how we begin.
Take your index figure and place it on the bottom of your sauce pan. Now we pour the rice in until it comes up to the first joint on your index finger. We're going to take it straight over to the faucet. Okay, we're going to let the water run in until it comes up to the second joint on our index finger, then we take the pot of water and rice and we bring the pot to a full rolling boil.
Once it reaches the rolling boil, we're going to put a lid on it and turn it down as low as it can go. We're going to leave this pot completely alone for 20 minutes. You do not lift the lid and you do not stir the pot.
At the end of the 20 minutes, we have perfectly cooked rice. We're going to fluff up to separate even grains.
Now, here is our perfectly cooked rice, you can add salt, butter, but also, all those famous New Orleans dishes. Red beans, gumbo, etouffee, chicken sauce piquante. All you need is rice and now you know how to cook it.
