How to Cope with Family Disapproving of Your Partner

Tamsen: Hey everybody, Matt and Tamsen here we get real about love. They were talking about in laws and whether or not you should tell them— Matt: Why do they even exist, what's the point? Tamsen: Tell you significant other or you husband if they like you or don’t like you. Matt: Assume, I don’t remember that she like, I mean we go home and stuff and she's friendly enough but does she? Tamsen: She pretends to like you. Matt: Yeah, that’s why— Tamsen: No, of course she likes you. Matt: I still even no the truth to this point. Tamsen: Of course she likes you. Matt: Honestly, never tell ever, ever, ever tell because if she's going to cause so many complications that it going to cause pounds in your relationship it’s not worth it. Why you die with this one, why do you die? Tamsen: Oh, I totally don’t agree I think you should-- Matt: Why? Tamsen: Well, because first of all you're hiding something really important and maybe your partner has some kind of flow that they could correct and maybe the easiest way to get them to correct it is just, you know say like, “Hey, my dad thinks that’s like really weird when you do that thing with the dog so please don’t do it anymore.” Matt: Being with the dog? Tamsen: “Or my mother hates when you’re in the kitchen.” You know I really totally think that you should you know— Matt: How about this? Tamsen: Yeah, you have to honest. Matt: In laws have their place in the relationship with the couple. You know what their place is? Far away, far away, so how important really is it on a day to day basis with— Tamsen: Well, what if it’s not far away what if they're like in your house everyday taking care of you kids or something? Matt: That’s a whole different issue that we’re going to discuss in at different time in laws don’t come over everyday and take care of children. Tamsen: Yeah, that’s kind of scared. Matt: So I don’t even show that was about but no— Tamsen: But I think you have to be honest. Listen, if your parents, if your mother and your father think your boyfriend of your husband are weirdo or you girlfriend or you wife isn't kind of this— Matt: Just tell them I'm sorry they think you’re a freak so do I, goodbye! Because that’s going to work. Tamsen: Let see what the viewers have to say. Matt: Fine with me I'm very real with this one.
