How to Crack an Egg with One Hand
Hi, this is Chef John from FoodWishes.com and today we are going to attempt to teach
you on how to crack and egg with one hand, alright?
So here we go, what am I talking about cracking an egg with one hand? That’s what I
mean. People are very impressed for some reason if someone can crack an egg like that.
And it’s not that hard but you’re not allowed to start practicing with eggs. I want you to
find two golf balls, now the brand really doesn’t matter. I’m going with a Maxfli and
Spalding from Aruba. If you don’t have golf balls, just swat up a couple pieces of
aluminum, alright. And here’s the trick to practice the actual move, were going to put a
quarter between the golf balls. Now I just want you to separate them with your fingers
until the quarter drops out, okay. Because that’s basically, not exactly but that’s basically
going to be the same movement that we’re going to after we’ve crack our eggs.
So the thumb and the fourth finger in particular are going to pull the top of the egg away.
And I will explain what the middle finger does later. But I want you to practice that okay,
so just how many times? I want you to do that 30 times, alright. And then you’ll be ready
for the actual egg, alright?
So here we go. You’re going to crack the egg on the side of the bowl make sure you
crack it right on the middle, that’s kind of important, alright? You’re going to put your
middle finger right on the crack and you’re going to pull away the top of the shell with
your first two fingers and the egg will just drop right off. Now of course I didn’t expect
you to get it from that take. So let’s slow things down here. Alright so crack the egg right
in the middle, make sure you give it good crack, push you middle finger right on the
crack and as soon as it kind of cracks a little more, pull away.
Right now, we’re going to go super slow mo. I’m going to explain that. By the way, that
pink mark there is just the grade of the egg. Alright, so you’re going to push with your
middle finger as soon as it cracks, and here’s really slow motion alright? So I want you to
hold it gently too, I want you to hold it like an egg. And I want you just to really light
pressure except for your middle fingers right on the crack and juts a little bit of pressure
and then it will get right there. It will just crack a little more and then your middle finger
stays on the back half. Your first two fingers pull that front piece of the shell forward just
like the golf ball and it will drop right out and you will be amazed that will totally work.
Here we go, just crack and pull, crack and pull. And again, practice with your golf balls,
alright? And you will be able to crack an egg with one hand and you’ll be the hero of all
your foody friends. So visit the site, it’s not really a recipe to read but the you can read
other stuff and enjoy.
