Hello! This is Master Jake. Here again today, I’m going to be doing again tutorial and GIMP was basically just the free version of Photoshop and I will have link in the video description if you want to download, if you don’t already have it. And if you do have it, we’re going to learning how to create some cool text today. Let’s go ahead and open up GIMP. I’m going to go over the file and click on new. We’re going to have to move quickly to this tutorial due to the 10-minute limit on You Tube.
I’m going to change my width to 600 and my height to 100 and make kind of a banner then you press OK and the image popping out here. So the first thing we’re going to do is click on our paint bucket tool over here and make sure we have black selected at the top. If it’s on the bottom, just click this little arrow things to flip it around. And if you don’t have black, then click one of these and select to turn the list and click OK and you’ll have it.
So now we have black selected in the paint bucket, we just click in here and fill it. Now, we want a cool looking background, so I’m going to filters, render, nature, flame. Now, you’ve got this menu that pops up here and we’re going to set the brightness up to, not that high, yeah 3.5 that looks good. And we go up here to edit and I’m going to change my variation to bent, you can just scroll around with it to find the ones you like. And then after that, you just click on this up here and then you’ll generate some more until you find the one you like, just kind of be using this one for the sake of it and then click OK. It’s up here. You click on your camera tab and you mess around with this and you’ll notice it changes, how close it is in the screen. I’m going to leave it about right there, click OK, noticed it’s generated out now.
We’re going to add some color to it and go to colors, color balance and we’re going to select Midtones which is already selected. And I’m going to do green, so I’m going to adjust the red and blue values over down and drag the green all the way up. And I’m going to click on my highlights and add a little bit more basic color to it, actually I’m going to drag those down, but drag that up. All right, that’s look kind of nice. Press OK, we’ve got a basic color on that now with nice effect. And now, we’re going to be opening—you’re going to need your layers palette open if it’s already. This is your layers palette. If you don’t have it open, press control L in your keyboard or go to dialogues and click layers.
Now, we’re going to start some new layers here. So we don’t actually need to go layer and start a new layer because we’re going to use the text tool. It’s marked about an A over here, click on that and it will start a new layer automatically when it rise to text. Then, we’re going to select our font, clicking this little button here and then it’s going to load up all your fonts. And I have a crap a lot of fonts, so it’s going to log a one. And I’m going to be using a special font that I’ve downloaded called Cloister Black Light. It’s right here. You can use any font you want.
Now, I’m going to set the size up to 48. And the color right now, I’m going to put it at white. Now, I’m going to click over here, and this text box is going to pop up and I’m going to type You Tube. That’s going to be my first text, and I’m going to color it select the move tool, click M on your keyboard or select this cross arrows right here. Make sure you’re selecting the text and not the background and move that all the way. Then, go back to your text tool or press T on your keyboard, click again to write some more text. We’re going to write rules. Move that up a little bit. Don’t worry, we’ll position them later. And here’s where the fun part comes in, we’ve got a text written that’s in basic white. Now, we’re going to spice it up with some nice glow effect on the outside. So first, we are going to select our YouTube layer over here because this is going to be the first one we do. We’re going to right click and go up to duplicate layer. Now, on our duplicated layer here, YouTube number one that just pop up, we’re going to select that, press T on a keyboard or select the text tool, click somewhere inside the YouTube A. You come down here to color and select the glow color that you want. I’m going to be using green again.
So now, the texture is completely green and you’ll see what I’m doing in a minute. Now, select that duplicated layer and duplicate it, and then select that duplicated layer and duplicate it. So now, you have a total of three duplication which are all at green and then the original which is the white, which you can’t see because it is in the bottom right now which is why going to dragging up to the top. You just select your layer and press the up arrow right here and that YouTube is above the other three layers. You don’t need it at above rows. It just needs to be above these three.
So now, you see you have your white YouTube text and you see kind of a glowing green tint around there. So now, we’re going to select our bottom YouTube layer, bottom on that here YouTube number one. We’re going to go to filters, bur and Gaussian blur. We’re going to be using RLE for that and we’re just going to keep five and five, press OK. Now, we’re going to go to YouTube number two or the second layer of, which would be the middle duplication. Blur, Gaussian blur, we’re going to leave everything the same except we’re going to change this to 10, both of them and click OK. Then, we’re going to go YouTube number three, the one right below our main YouTube layer. We’re going to go to filters, blur, Gaussian blur, and change that to 20 or both of them. Now, you see it’s kind of nice cool effect to it.
Now, we’re going to select our top YouTube layer the one that’s white, click our T tool or our Text Tool or type T on your keyboard, and click that. This is going to pop like that. You want to go over here to color and select black now. You need to see, it looks really cool. Now, we’re going to click close on that. We’re going to right click our top YouTube layer, click merge down, click that layer and click merge down and click that way and click merge down. Now, you just merged all those layers together, so it’s like the original text.
Now, we’re going to do the exact same steps with rules, I’m going to do it fast because I don’t really have time on the video, so here we go.
[Demonstration]
Remember when you come back the first time you went to your bottom layer, not 50 to be 5. And then your next layer, next duplicated layer could be 10. You can mess around with these values if you want, make amount whatever you want. This is just the ones that I used when I met my banners. And then the top duplicated layer, I’m going to make 20, then we’re going to select that, see tools, over text, change it to black.
Now, we’re going to merge all the rules layers together. And now, we’re going to get the text were we wanted on the screen soon that YouTube right there and rules right there just to be generic for right now. I don’t have much time left. And then we are going to merge all the layers together. Okay, now it’s all one layer where you going to go to file and click SAVE AS. Okay wait for the dialogue to pop up and kind of leggy. I’m going to go to my desktop and I’m going to type in my banner, and then we’re going to put .png for this one and click SAVE. This thing is going to pop up. I’m just going to remove save comment, the rest is fine. And now, we’re going to exit it out again and go down here and double click and there’s our banner. It’s all what I’m going to say they look pretty cool.
So that’s how you make cool banners. And again, I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and I have pretty more to come on these topics. Thanks for watching the video, see you guys later.
