How to Create Menus for Your Games in Flash
Hello, this is maro2194, we’re making a video on creating menus for your games using ActionScript 2.0. So, to begin, I make a design. Here I have one. This is a very basic one. You have these three buttons another like decoration and just a couple of frames over here. You have an actions, layer which will write over actions over here, one little action stop one, and we’ll just be creative, genuine, original to make all of this. It depends on the game and your imagination to create some cool designs for your menus.
Okay, once you’ve done all this, go to your action layer over here and go to your actions and now we’re going to window actions. Here you have and to begin, if you go to control test movie or control enter you’ll see the movie plays over and over again but if you type stop over here in the actions, you’ll see that it stays in the first one or in the one you tag down, Just to stop here, I change it from frame and you’ll see it will be over here. But anyway I kind of I did it this way. There you go, so it’s a little step action, stop, open parentheses, close parentheses, add some colon at the end.
Now we’ll have to type in a little action scripting for our buttons so let’s select the start button over here and we’ll type in on release. So the action will be go to and stop. We will be going 2 over here. We can check it if we have mistakes. There are no mistakes and we can test it, hit Control-Enter and just type in start, there you go.
Here you can place the game for the player to begin playing it and now we will have to type in for the instructions. It’s on frame number three and so we’ll click over here and I'm going to type in on release, go to stop (3), semi column. That’s your line action scripting and the last but not the least let’s make the credits also. So we will type on release, go to stop (4), semi column over here and there you go. Now we hit Control-Enter and if you hid over here, you can always make button to go back to the frame. Then you go here, you complete the instructions for the player to understand how to play and here is the last one, credits, here you can place the credits for the player to know who made the game.
Okay, a couple of deep second with you is to mix up some designs like rectangle tool has some design. It’s over here. You could click at the rectangle tool and go to properties. You can see here it has custom lines, select the ones you want, how wide do you want it to be and if you want you can also make it round.
So another tip I can give you here you can mix up the fonts but remain like with the same design for all of your frames because that is for organizing to make it look better. And one last tip I can give is that you can make some more of the clips and animate the text. For example, here then we do want it very quick. I’ll do it very quickly. I’ll make it movie clip within this or whatever with width and make some couple of layers right here and change the color of it. You can see we change this very quickly.
So now if I go over here to the start you’ll see here it animates. It isn’t the best animation but it was just to show you that you can make any movie clip you want over here. It can be any animation you want also. If you want to create game over section just at the end of the game, create a button using the same action scripting but go in to the first frame. Well, buddies that is all for now. Let’s review what we’ve done over here. You have our instructions also and the credit as well. That’s all for now, I hope you learned something and that now we can make your games much better. So, well, this is all for now and don’t forget to check out this site at www.maro2194.co.nr and we will see you in the next video bye.
