Kira Slye: Today we’re going to show you some sophisticated and grown-up Halloween jewelry. The skulls are really in right and rather than doing cute see things like pumpkins and ghosts, we thought that we would just jazz it up a little bit with the skulls.
So these are actually Jolly Rogers that’s what this symbol is called, the pirate emblem thing with that crossed bones. So what we’ve done here is at least I have the idea of crackling some silver through the clay. And this we discover--
Ilysa Bierer: The white studio—
Kira Slye: The white studio of iced coffee, its whipped cream.
Ilysa Bierer: The color?
Kira Slye: Okay so some of our friends in the Polymer Clay exe Guild told us about the whipped creams coffee being the best clay to get a really good transfer with our magic transfer paper. So we’ve made some transfers onto the paper and these images at the top here come from our other site, craftedonline.com and we’ve partnered with a wonderful guy named Ken who does collage images.
So these are from his mortality series which you can find over there and purchase the set and then you can size them. We’ve actually flipped them so that the earrings would be a symmetrical. So in Photoshop and I’ve really can do it in Photoshop elements which is the kind of consumer brand one that you can get for a lot cheaper but I’m a graphic designer so I have that.
So I did this. I flipped the image so that you could do earrings that were symmetrical on both sides. And then you just cut them out and transfer them onto your clay and here, we’ve just cut it out, put a hole on the top and attached the jump ring. Here, at least I cut this out with the waffle blade and these are cute little earrings.
On this one, she attached the charm at the bottom and on this, she’s actually embedded tiny sparkly Swarovski crystals at the corners. And on this set which I made, I actually put a frame around it and I used some powdered pigments to put an eery purple glow onto there. And then this one, I actually attached to a pre-purchase chain and you are going to be able to see the full project. You’ll see me make this pendant and you’ll see Ilysa create the beginnings of this one and then I will show you how to finish off your earrings and attached all the findings over at polymerclayclassroom.com
Ilysa Bierer: All right and you can find all of these images from Ken, all the skulls over at craftedonline.com and if you go under collage—
Kira Slye: Images.
Ilysa Bierer: Collage images and you click on there, Ken has its own section in there and these are his design so you can find them there.
Kira Slye: So thanks for joining us this week and we’ll see you next week on Polymer Clay podcast.
