All right guys, this is PAV Production in behalf of Fruitytuts.com and today I’ll be showing you how to make a Dr. Dre beat. So let’s go right into it. I’m not going to explain the basic. I hope you guys know the basics before I start this tutorial. So if you don’t know the basics, check up some of the tutorials on the basics. So let’s get started.
So first things first, using the BSC plug in, and I’m using tuba sound–it’s an actual trumpet up the south and I’m going straight into it, make a Dre beat. So let’s just set the tempo down to 90, just like that. Ninety should be fine. Let’s go into the piano roll.
To make the Dre top piano, we need to layout correctly, so let me pick up a composition using my Midi keyboard.
[Demonstration]
Let’s try 95.
[Demonstration]
That’s fine. Let’s just Control A to copy it over, hold shift, click on it, drag it over, drop it just like that.
[Demonstration]
Okay, so that’s not bad. Let’s just continue doing what we are doing. So now, looking into another instruments. So let’s just put that to 16 as we’re going over to 16. We’re going over two barres, if you can see we’re going over two barres, but in reality we’ve gone over four barres, but two barres if I stay in hip hop style.
So let’s just clone that down and get different instrument. Okay let me just turn off the mic and do the composition.
[Demonstration]
So now we’re going to put another instrument. So we’ve got the saxophones running at the moment. Let’s put in another instrument, so let’s just clone that down. Now I like to keep my instruments separate so I know what I’m doing. But the reason I’m doing that all in one pattern is because I want you guys to see what I’m doing and also it makes it easier because we’ve got ghost notes running in the background. If you don’t know how ghost notes will run, or how you put them on, check them over to my tutorial on how to ghost a notes.
Now in this, this is what I’m looking for. So let’s just turn off the mic again and do the composition.
[Demonstration]
So now again, we’re cloning that down, get another instrument. Now, we’re going to go for quite type of instrument guys. You know Dr. Dre likes to use choir. He’s got this ethic type of music style, like pipes blowing in the background and stuff, that’s his type of style. So let’s go for the choir, classic choir and let’s turn off the mic again.
[Demonstration]
So that’s the basic guys. Okay now let’s do the drums.
