How to Create a Herb Garden in 30 Minutes
Hi, I’m Patti Moreno the Garden Girl, and welcome to the 30-minute herb garden. I’ve been inspiring people to garden for years, and now I found a system of gardening that taken all of the excuses out of gardening and give you a garden in 30 minutes.
Originally, garden thought for years as erosion control, but now I’m going to show you how to use them in your own home garden. Garden pots make gardening easy to set up and easy to maintain, and if you’re new to gardening start with herbs. All of my garden sacks are in place. Each one is two feet long and the material is a synthetic fabric, inside is one cubic foot of compost so they’re really easy to carry, and the synthetic material is going to last between three and five years.
In this 4 X 4 rest bed I put 12, and to use them all you have to do is cut a hole in the fabric where you want to plant plants. The first herb I’m going to plant in my garden sack is oregano. I love growing oregano. IT shows a beautiful flower once it flowers, but it’s one of those herbs that are so easy to maintain. You usually barely have to do anything. You just have to actually harvest it and it will love you for it. I’ve got my oregano planted. It’s in place in my garden sack. I think it looks beautiful. I can’t wait to see it grow, and just take over this whole corner here.
The next thing I’m going to plant is some basil. Now, I’m planting Genevieve’s basil. I’m going to plant three garden sacks worth or basil because I need it probably, almost everyday. So I’m going to go through, and I’m going to plant six plants. Now, I’m just going through making a little hole, and then popping each plant right in that hole. It smells so good.
Next, I’m going to plant parsley. I am using Giant of Italy parsley. So I’m going to start by going through and I’ve got four parsleys that I’m going to plant per garden sack here.
I never really liked parsley until I started growing my own. The taste is incredible. You’re just going to love your own home grown parsley. I’ve planted all of my parsley, and all I have left to do is plant my lemon basil. I love lemon basil. I take a handful of it, mix it with my Genevieve’s basil when I’m making my pasta sauce and it’s so good.
I’m going to go through, and I’m going to cut all of those slits on my garden sacks and I’m going to have six basil plants per garden sack. I love batching attack because it just makes it so much easier. You do one thing all at once, so we cut everything. Now, we’re just going to plant every single plant. It’s going to make it go so much quicker.
Now, that I’ve finished planting my 30-minute herb garden, all I have to do is water it thoroughly. Garden sacks bring no excuses to gardening.
I’m Patti Moreno, the Garden Girl. Thanks for watching.
