Reusing old items is more echo friendly than just recycling them. But some items just can’t be reused. You can create a recycling station in your home for collecting these items. First, decide on a space where you can collect and store your recyclables until it’s time for pick up or drop off. A garage is the perfect place for a recycling center. If you have to separate your recyclables by bins and label them or use paper bags. To save space, install shelves on the wall to hold the bins. You can buy brackets and wood or ready made shells from hardware stores.
For smaller spaces especially apartments, check under your kitchen sink. You may already have a trashcan there so just to add one more or two or three for your recyclables.
You should be able to recycle these four main categories of household waste, paper, plastics, glass and metals such as aluminum cans. Check with your local recycling service provider about exactly which items it takes. For example, most recycling service providers only accept plastics with codes one or two. These codes usually appear at the bottom of the container surrounded by a triangle recycling symbol. Many cities or townships have recycling programs that either pick up at your home or have neighborhood drop offs. You may be ask to put all your recycling into one box, separate from the trash or you may be ask to separate each time of recyclable material into different boxes.
If you need to drive somewhere to drop off the recycling, do it on your ways somewhere else, that way you’re not making a special trip which cause you extra time, fuel and green house gassy missions. Lots of organizations such as schools and libraries take some of your recyclables most notable paper and use the money to buy supplies and fun programs. If your municipality or county doesn’t offer recycling, ask local politicians or representatives to put the issue on their agendas.
